Give Thanks Edition: Falling Whistles

Earlier this week Digiwaxx Media was invited to a fundraiser for Falling Whistles at Sutra. Together people from all walks of life gathered to support a cause early in its journey. A room usually filled with urban melodies and dance had another, more purposeful aspect of the evening – a collective effort for world liberation with the purchase of a cocktail and a Falling Whistle to be placed over the heart.

What started off as a short trip to the Congo has become a campaign to end the world’s largest war. This wandering scribe, Sean D. Carasso, ventured off the beaten path into the depths of Congolese warzone discovering an illegal prison detaining escaped child soldiers. These young boys, too small to carry a gun, are sent to the frontlines armed with only a whistle. Many never return home. So he wrote a blog post, forwarded it to a few folks back home, and the conversation wrapped its way around the world. Only a year later the Falling Whistle has become a protest for peace. These whistle sales address two needs:

- Provide income to support war affected children
- Create a coalition to advocate for peace

Let the whistle be your protest for peace. “If you came here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you came because you believe your liberation bound to mine, then come, and we can walk together.” –Sean D. Carasso
