@SheaSerrano The Rap Yearbook To Be Made Into An @AMC_TV Documentary Series

The Rap Year Book, writer Shea Serrano‘s analysis of rap’s most important songs since the genre’s earliest days, is to be made into a documentary series by AMC. The book selects one song from the years 1979-2015 that best represents that period and time for hip-hop. News of a possible documentary series was first reported last yearwith AMC confirming a six-part series will air in 2018 this past weekend, via Variety.

The series will air as part of their AMC Visionaries project and will “debate and deconstruct the most important moments and songs from the biggest years in the history of hip-hop with each episode centered on the story of one key song but featuring a special guest MC as well as a select group of core contributors including legendary rap artists, acclaimed music experts and other fresh voices.” The Roots’ Questlove and Black Thought are to act as executive producers on the show.
