ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: @iammalikrashad

Though it’s been a while since Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn product Malik Rashad formerly known as Mo Betta’ Blues has officially released a project, he’s far from a new jack. The hip-hop/soul artist has graced the stage with legendary artists such as KRS-ONE, CL Smooth, and The Last Poets and also performed at many popular NYC venues including The Knitting Factory, The Bowery Poetry Club, and Brooklyn’s famous African Street Festival. Previous Works have landed him great reviews on sites like OkayPlayer and video airplay on networks such as BET, MTV, and MTV2 among others. His music has also been featured on soundtracks for films in the Sundance, Big Apple and BAM film festivals. A gifted poet and storyteller, Malik believes in the words of the late great Nina Simone “An artist’s duty, as far as I’m concerned, is to reflect the times.” Simply put Malik makes real music for real people and is never afraid to challenge limits in pursuit of becoming a musical great. Once characterized as ” A low timbre, gruff sound that could be best described as what pavement would sound like if it had a voice. Or what the vocal tone of a graffiti tagged bodega would be.” His standout vocal tone and lyricism continues on his latest project The Colors of Life. With top notch production and a mix of live instrumentation and amazing singers the project plays as an audio movie that the world needs to hear!
