Not too long ago BET realized that while the Hip-Hop awards shows are always monumental, during the live tapings the audience always went crazy during the playback of the video from the the Cyphers. Those 3-5 minute clips of 4 or 5 MCs spitting hot 16 freestyles while a Legendary DJ flipped the beat made for must-see TV. Each year BET expands the segment which I suspect will become its on show at some point. This year BET introduces “The Warm Up Cypher” which features somewhat lesser known but no less talented MCs. I’ve had the pleasure to meet most of the folks in this clip personally and I can vouch for their skills. Don’t be surprised to see of of them on that main stage anytime soon.
