PHOTOS: Digiwaxx Presents: The Blast Live (CMJ Edition)

This year Digiwaxx returned to CMJ in a big way delivering 3 straight nights of house party like flavor, music, and entertainment. They partnered with some of the most respected and seasoned music insiders who truly work, walk, and live at the forefront of the music industry for hosting and pulled together jam packed talent rosters giving a wide scope of music past, present, and to come. The running theme was simple it was all about the true love of music old and artists who are really bringing it.

Digiwaxx’s The Blast Live CMJ 2011 Edition rocked TBD Lounge in the heart of Lower Manhattan’s Financial District Oct 20, 21, and 22nd. Each evening had its own distinct flavor, host and talent line up. On Thursday All Hip Hop’s own Chuck Creekmur and DJ Sucio Smash hosted an evening hip-hop with music by DJ SNS and performances by Lil SNS, Al Be Back, Denzil Porter, Fresh Daily, Kid Daytona, Saigon, and Timeless Truth. Friday followed with hosting by Sway in the Morning A&R Room teammates Rich Nice and Shaheem Reid for a lineup of emerging talent to look out for, follow and pay attention to alongside some all time greats. DJ Get Live put it down on the 1′s and 2′s and talent included an eclectic mix of soul, r&B, pop, reggae, and hip-hop with Nikki Lynette, Chad B., Esso, Tarrey Torae, Mick Jaggerr, Futuristic Lingo Lydia Caesar, Justo, Lil Mama, O’neal McKnight, and the legendary Patra. The series culminated on Saturday with a hip-hop extravaganza of Future Flavas meets Golden Era hosted by Buttahman and Marley Marl. The finale evening featured talent such as Fred Da Godson, DJ Statik Selektah, Fame, Gage, Craig G, Eric Sosa, Maffew Ragazino, and Reek Da Villain.

In the true spirit of CMJ each night’s audience drew artist peers, DJs, and enthusiasts to check the talent. Digiwaxx staff and resident DJ Gyvis who was on deck each night spinning can definitely give it up for a classic CMJ 2011 production well done.
